Our high-speed
servers reside at Hurricane Electric in Fremont, California
where they are connected to a national backbone ranked among
the top
in
the nation. Connections ranging from OC48s (2.4 Gbps) to
gigabit ethernet (1,000 Mbps) form rings around the nation
connecting the core routers at several major exchange points
including:
• PAIX Palo Alto,
CA
• Equinix Ashburn, VA
• Equinix Chicago, IL
• Equinix Dallas, TX
• Equinix Los Angeles, CA
• Equinix San Jose, CA
• NYIIX Telehouse NY, NY
• LINX Telehouse London
• AMSIX NIKHEF Amsterdam

| failure. In addition to
our own backbone, we also purchase
backup transit from
multiple providers
in multiple locations to ensure that your data will arrive
via the shortest possible routes. Because of our backup
transit and the many international peers, our network
maintains the shortest routes for sending your data all
over the world. On an ongoing basis, we are negotiating
with the top fiber carriers for new routes, additional
backup transit providers, and we are signing on new peering
relationships. |
Network
Redundancy
Like all top tier networks, our Cisco-powered network uses
intelligent end-user routing software called Border Gateway
Protocol (BGP). BGP can identify which path is the most
efficient for each data packet, and then route the packet
to its destination on the fastest path. This increases
the speed at which web pages sent from our NOC arrive
at their destination.
Studies have shown that
the second most common reason for downtime is circuit failure
on the Tier 1 backbone, the
major data highway. To guard against this potential
problem, we have three Tier-1 providers. If one has problems,
we can route traffic down the other one. These private
peering
arrangements allow NetFronts to exchange packets of
data with every major backbone carrier in a one-to-one environment
quickly and efficiently.
In addition, the data center has high-speed links to 9
public exchanges including both MAE East and West and several
NAPS. Through these many public exchanges, customers have
the ability to reach their site wherever they are coming
from on the Internet. Thus, we have the best of both worlds:
a network that is both efficient and wide reaching.
